Business Boosting Tip for you #1

Business Boosting Tip for you #1

Let’s talk about emails lists and newsletters for a minute. This read will be worth your time!

Are you currently using a newsletter list to help grow your business? If you said yes, keep reading for some awesome tips below. If you said no, here is why you definitely should be!

Every business has those slow days. You know the ones I am talking about. They dragggg by, the register stays empty, boredom, worry and self-doubt begin to set it. Well what If I told you there was a way to help alleviate these slow days, and turn them into “not so slow days”?

You can do this by using a customer newsletter and here is how.

First things first, you must collect emails from your customers without being too invasive. Thankfully with a little creativity, this can be pretty easy. Here are a few ideas to get the ball rolling:

1. Have a nice piece of paper with your company logo on it that states: Write your email in the line below and we will email you a 20% off coupon for your next order!

You can place this by the register(s) or somewhere in your store that has high traffic/visibility.

2. Make sure you are active on social media (facebook, Instagram, etc.) and regularly post updates on your stories and feed. Let people know that if they sign up to your email list, they will have special insider access to deals and promotional events that are not available to anyone else. Make sure to post a link to your website or somewhere that they can sign up.

3. Have an employee ask each customer if they would like to sign up to your newsletter for 10-20% off their current order when a customer is checking out.

These are just 3 simple ways to collect emails in a fashion that won’t upset your awesome customers.

Now how does this help you?

Let’s say it’s been a really slow day. You’ve had 5 customers total and things are looking bleak. You can send out an email blast to all of your newly subscribed customers letting them know that if they come in today, they will receive 10 – 20% off of their order, PLUS a free topping.

You can of course change this to whatever you would like. But keep in mind, if the goal is to get someone into your shop, the offer needs to be great. You need to convince people that it is worth their time to get up, and drive to your store. This is much easier than it seems. But a meager 5% off code will not do the trick.

Your best bet is double digits such as 10% PLUS a bonus offer. The bonus offer can be something like free topping(s) or a FREE MAGIC Color Changing® cup, etc… Or a buy one get one free offer.

You will be surprised to see how many customers flock to your store to take advantage of the BOGO offer for their kids. Let’s be realistic, if you were going to get ice cream and shop X but then got an email from shop Y offering a BOGO offer, who are you going to choose?

Another benefit to having a newsletter list is that you can announce big changes, new flavors/items, and get customer feedback.

All of these things will GREATLY increase your customer lifetime value. Which is the backbone of any true business. Because let’s face it, the customer that is only going to come in once, spend $10 and never come back, is not ideal. It’s also not sustainable. Sure, they are great once in a while, but you want customers that will spend $1,000 over the course of their lifetime with your company (lifetime value).

You acquire customers like this by providing excellent customer service, a great product, and by communicating with them regularly. And a newsletter greatly helps with this.

Here are a few last-minute tips to getting started:

You will need a newsletter CRM such as Mailchimp. This is probably the easiest and most straightforward platform to use for starting out. It also works great. It’s as simple as adding the emails you’ve collected and then creating a campaign. No fancy design work is truly needed.

Sticking to a schedule will benefit you. It does not have to be perfect but sending out a newsletter once per week or once every 3 days, etc.… will help. Consistency is key.

Don’t over think it! It’s better to get it done than to not do it at all.
